The overall topic of my artistic practice is relationships with our own bodies through sexuality and gender. Irony and uneasiness play an important role, whether I create a painting alone or enhance the experience with video and soundscape.

My visual expression is loud, raw and unsanitized. Currently I explore a gendered body as a consumable product. Disgust, phobias, pain and taboos as a source of pleasure and aesthetics  interests me as an artist, researcher and a human being. Through depiction of bodily fluids, flesh and cannibalism I convey the idea of a body as a consumable. I am curious about the phenomenological limits of a figurative painting. I scrutinise my own emotions while modelling for my own artworks, in the process of painting and questioning power dynamics between artist and audience.

My art is about taboos, sex, gender and fear - topics that are censored in many countries. In Russia where I am originally from, artists, musicians, poets and writers are silenced and prosecuted. My art is my voice in the free world, where I speak loudly and unapologetically because others can’t.
